Early Photographs of Mount Holly

Now in Biblioboard

Early twentieth century photographs of Mount Holly, North Carolina now uploaded to Digital History Collection. Photograph below shows Abel Peterson Rhyne’s wooden general store on the left of the railroad tracks and his tall brick office building beyond the tracks on South Main Street from around 1907. The second brick building had businesses of Joseph Johnson Farrarr.

Rhyne, along with his brother Daniel Efird Rhyne and father-in-law Ambrose Costner established the Mount Holly Cotton Mill in 1875. A. P. Rhyne also served as the mayor of Mount Holly during the years 1917-1922.
